The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur, with the aim of promoting unity and discipline among Hindus and fostering a sense of national identity. As the RSS commemorates its centenary this year, marking 100 years since its founding, it stands as one of the world's largest voluntary organisations.

"Well, first of all, to complete 100 years for any organisation is a great achievement. There are very few organisations of that kind, at least, that can say that they have remained the same for one full century," stated Christophe Jaffrelot, Professor at King’s College London, in a conversation with Outlook’s Editor Chinki Sinha.

Professor Jaffrelot has conducted extensive research on themes such as nationalism, federalism, and the relationship between Hindutva and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His remarks come at a significant historical moment, as the RSS completed its 100 years in October 2025.

Editor: Sudhanshu

Follow us:
Website: https://www.outlookindia.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Outlookindia
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/outlookindia/
X: https://twitter.com/Outlookindia
Whatsapp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaNrF3v0AgWLA6OnJH0R
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@OutlookMagazine
Dailymotion: https://www.dailymotion.com/outlookindia

#RSS #RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh #MohanBhagwat #Hindu #Hindutva #HinduRashtra #SanghParivar #Sangh
